Fast growing aftermarket car industry offer a great selection of aero parts with different style and also materials from which body kits made. These aerodynamic kits are very individual and make any car look totally outstanding. Time to find out a little more about components used when produce body kits.
So what are the differences between Conventional Fiberglass, PolyUrethane, and Duraflex aerodynamics? What separates them from each other and why is it so important to know which one is best for you?
There is 3 different body kits explained in this article:
- Fiberglass body kits
- Polyurethane body kits
- Duraflex body kits
Fiberglass (FRP)
Most car aero parts made of fiberglass because of it's reasonable cost and ease for general public. Fiberglass also esily customizeable. Now let's see the bad part- shipping charges are high, international shipping could simply shock any of us. Also because of relatively low quality of fiberglass (in compare to polyurethane or carbon) there is high volume of delivery-damaged fiberglass body kits. And at the end - fiberglass body kits are hard fitment, so it is not recommended install it by yourself if you do not have previous experience on work with fiberglass.
These days fiberglass body kits are normally used to replace damaged original body parts after an accident. This can be done also as car presale job to make car look cool. This could help to get asking price because even made of fiberglass, body kit will make car much nicer than other similar cars for sale. We would recommend conventional fiberglass body kits for enthusiasts with low budget and those who wants give extra style for their first small car.
Poly-Urethane (PU)
Polyurethane body kits are high quality and same time more expensive. Because of quality these polyurethane body kits are fitting as OEM and look like done by manufacturer. Such kits make car more "serious". As we all know we get what we pay for. There is no great quality at low price available. Polyurethane body kit could cost 3 times more then ordinary fiberglass product and there is practically no damages duting the delivery process.
Keep in mind that once urethane parts lose shape or rips, it is not repairable leaving consumers no other choice except to spend more money on another product. Urethane aerodynamics are recommended for the high end consumer who does not mind spending more money for a high quality product. But you need to know that polyurethane kits are not repairable, so if you brake it the only choice is to replace damaged body part.
Duraflex (PFRP)
Duraflex is a material that includes fuberglass, plastic and flex resin. This combination makes duraflex body kits attractive purchase. Duraflex body kits lasts longer and more durable. Duraflex kits are free of waviness, cracks, chips and gel coat damage. These parts are comes in shiny black and with mesh included. Duraflex aerodynamic parts price is around 50% less than aftermarket JDM product. Duraflex recommended to customers with medium budget.
